- Background : Infectious disease is one of the main causes of mortality worldwide. One of the causes of infection is due to pathogens, eg Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance later in life, so selected treatment alternatives from sugar-apple leaves (Annona squamosa) and Jarak merah leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia) are shown to have antibacterial properties. Objective : To determine the zone of inhibition of ethanol extract combination of sugar-apple leaf (Annona squamosa) and jarak merah leaf (Jatropha gossypifolia) against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria Method : The antibacterial activity testing with diffusion cakram method Result and Conclusion : From the results of the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract combination of leaves of Annona squamosa and Jatropha gossypifolia against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria obtained inhibit zone, concentration 1 EDAS: EDJG (6250 μg: 5000μg) of 11.80 mm and 12,23 mm; concentration 2 EDJG: EDAS (6250 μg: 2500μg) of 11.13 mm and 11,72 mm and concentration 3 EDAS: EDJG (12500μg: 2500μg) of 12.35 mm and 13,17 mm. From the inhibit zone shows that the combination of Annona squamosa ethanol extract and Jatropha gossypifolia was more effective against Escherichia coli than Staphylococcus aureus.
