- One of the problems of children who experience autism disorder is that they lose the support of several groups such as family, friends, even the government. Autistic children lose social support because they are considered as a strange child because they are not able to communicate or interact with the family environment. Children with autism also lose hope because of the limitations they have, they are considered unable to do something positive for others as well as their own.Social support itself according to John and Johnson is the exchange of resources aimed at the welfare and the existence of people who can be relied upon to provide help, spirit, acceptance and attention.With conditions like this can worsen the state of the child because the more isolated even the environment of his own family. This study aims to describe social supportgiven by SLB Autism River Kids Malang to children with autism and why the agency provides support for the autistic children. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of the research is the principal of SLB Autism River Kids, teachers, and parents. The technique used in this research is observation technique, interview, and documentation. The results of this study indicates that the support provided by SLB Autism River Kids Kota Malang in the form of emotional support, rewards to support children, instrumental support, information support and through peers support which is from non autistic students though they only help in terms of eating and drinking, support through the field of religion. Religion support here means that teacher educates the students to recite, pray, how to perform wudlu, greeting every time weget in and out of the house. The reasons why the agency provides social support is because autistic children are often isolated, children with autism getting less support from the surrounding, difficult to get decent education, hard to get the affection of the community and also the autistic children is also difficult to interact with the surrounding environment. The support provided by the agency plays an important role for autistic children. Children need special education and services to optimize their full potential due to differences with others.
