  • Children are the best gift given by God, unexception children with special needs that mean children with limited mental, intellectual, emotional, and physical development progress which is distinguish them from normal children as well so they need shadow and certain education. This research is explaining about the influences of shadow in the development of independence in children with special needs that focus on in the influences of shadow to the children with special needs, the role of shadow to the children with special needs, and also the effect of shadow to the children with special needs. This study is using qualitative descriptive which the data from this research are based on the finding data in work field. Concept used in this study is using independence and the role of shadow concept. The subject of this study are doing observation and assessment to the children with special needs and also doing direct interaction with the children with special needs. Collecting data methods used in this study is doing direct interaction, deeply interview, and documentation. The result found in this study are; 1) children with special needs that assist by shadow increasing the independence in terms of eating without shadow assistance, the responsibility for cleaning up, initiatives of sholat, and also the initiatives to study. 2) with the existence of shadow assist children with special needs can mingle with others and more confidence. 3) children with special needs can keep their concentrate and there are increasing in their certain defect such as reading , spelling, memorizing, and talking.
