- Corrosion is the reaction that occurs on the metal and is very detrimental to the variety of equipment made of metal due to the effects of these reactions that make metal experienced a reduction in mass from time to time. Corrosion control is urgently needed in order to reduce or attenuate the bad impact caused by these reactions. Environmentally friendly corrosion control is the solution of these problems in order to attenuate the negative impact of corrosion without causing other negative impact. In this study used coffee extract inhibitors as inhibitors of the test specimen with environment-friendly steel St 37 that was tested on a solution of hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride with a cargo of 5 molar. Coffee extract is dissolved with the inhibitor concentration 0 ml, 30 ml and 60 ml of corrosion media on both. The results of this research on media solutions of hydrochloric acid showed a decrease in the rate of corrosion, on the concentration of inhibitor 0 ml corrosion rate is 348.7150 mpy, concentration of inhibitors 30 ml corrosion rate is 273.4006 mpy, continued to decline with the concentration of inhibitor 60 ml corrosion rate is 132.3398 mpy. Sodium chloride media also experienced a decrease in the rate of corrosion, inhibitor concentration 0 ml with the rate of corrosion is 171,4998 mpy, the inhibitor concentration 30 ml corrosion rate is 85,9404 mpy, inhibitor concentration 60 ml and the rate of corrosion is 36.3659 mpy.
