- In the film Inside Out tells the story of human development since childhood and describes how children learn to regulate the emotions in their minds. The emotions in the drawings are visualized so vividly, and the emotions communicate. If viewed from the perspective of communication science it is a process of intrapersonal communication. The purpose of this study was to find out what denotation, connotation, and myths mean that represented the concept of intrapersonal communication in the animated film Inside Out, which was conducted from May to July 2018. The film was then dissected using Roland Barthes's analysis technique to pay attention to the signs in the film that represented intrapersonal communication and the things that influenced it. This study uses a qualitative approach with interpretive types with primary data from the Inside Out movie and secondary data obtained from literature research and literature that are relevant to the object being examined. The results showed that the practice of intrapersonal communication in the film Inside Out was represented by a communication scene conducted by two to three people. Most of these scenes involve Riley as a child with her parents. Furthermore, the things that influence the practice of intrapersonal communication based on the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth, in the film inside out are interconnected cultures, genders, statuses, self-concepts and emotions.
