  • Background: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder, characterized by impairments in thinking, affecting language, perception, and feelings, such as delusions and hallucinations. Trihexyphenidyl is an anticholinergic drug as a therapy of extrapyramidal syndrome (EPS) in the form of Parkinson's symptoms in schizophrenic patients induced by anti-psychotic drugs. Objective: This study aims to determine the pattern of trihexyphenidyl drug use in schizophrenic patients at Dr. Mental Hospital. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang includes type, dose, interval, frequency and route of administration in schizophrenic patients. Methods: This study was an observational with retrospective methods in schizophrenic patients from October to December 2017 at Dr. Mental Hospital. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang, Malang. Results and Conclusions: The use of trihexyphenidyl single is not used in outpatients. The highest pattern of therapy was a combination of 3 as many as 124 patterns of therapy (57%) with trihexyphenidyl (2x2mg) PO + clozapine (1x25mg) PO + risperidone (2x2mg) PO and trihexyphenidyl (2x2mg)PO + clozapine (1x50mg)PO + risperidone (2x2mg)PO each of 9 patients (7%), switching pattern is 43 patterns.
