- Marriages in its first 5 years are susceptible to conflicts because it is the period of marriage adjustment between husband and wife. This is more challenging for working wives because their attention and focus must be shared between work and household affairs so that emotional intelligence is needed to overcome and reduce the conflicts that will be the experienced. This study aims to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and marriage adjustment on working wives. The measuring instruments used are Dyadic Adjustment Scale and Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale. The sampling technique used in this study is quota sampling with 160 subjects with the criteria 20-40 years old, working, and domiciled in Samarinda city, East Kalimantan. The method of data analysis used is Product Moment Pearson correlation test. The result of the study shows there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and marriage adjustment on working wives. Emotional intelligence influences marriage adjustment by 5.4%.(r= 0.232, p= 0.003, = 0.054)
