  • This thesis focuses on the students’ perception of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English of 8th grade students at SMPN 3 Batu with three purposes: (1) to describe the students’ perception of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning of English, (2) to describe the advantages of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English, and (3) the disadvantages of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. The researcher used descriptive analysis to describe the students’ perception of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English. Besides, the researcher used the qualitative analysis, it was applied to describe the advantages and disadvantages of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English. This study used interview and questionnaire as the instrument for collecting data. The findings revealated that the students’ perception of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English the most was positive. In the other words, the students perceived that powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English is effective for learning English. Furthermore, there were three advantages of powerpoint presentation used by the teacher in learning English, were: (1) powerpoint presentation pay students attention; (2) powerpoint presentation was easy to use and were enthuastic in learning English; (3) powerpoint presentation help the teacher manage time well. On the other hand, the disadvantages of powerpoint presentation by the teacher were: (1) the used of powerpoint presentation to explain the material was that it took longer time; (2) the use of powerpoint presentation that the powerpoint slides was not interesting.
