  • Main energy source for human being is natural source of fossil carbon that in line with the growth of human population, it leads to increment on fuel consumption. Crisis on fuel may occur and it damages environment. Biomass is advantageous solid waste for human to use as alternative energy source, for example, coconut shell and keluak (Pangium edule) shell. This research aimed to find out the heat value of coconut shell and keluak (Pangium edule) shell by using material duplication method to obtain accurate result. Variation on briquettes divided into 6 including 100:0, 90:10, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 with adhesive variation of 20 gram and 30 gram. Total used in forming briquettes is 80 gram. Testing for briquettes characteristics including water content, pressure test, density, ash, and heat value to result standard value. Result of this research shows that material composition influences water content, ash, and heat value. The best briquettes obtained on sample 3 by composition of 75% coconut shell + 25% keluak shell with 30 gram adhesive compound. They have 5,735% water content, 3,323% ash, and 7275 kal/gram heat value.
