- Background : Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by an absolute or relative lack of insulin that caused carbohydrates, protein and lipid metabolic disorder. Lack of insulin production can trigger an increase of triglycerides levels because of increased production and reduction VLDL catabolism and decreased activity of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) enzyme. Which is insulin act as a cofactor of LPL enzyme. Herbal medicine are believed safer than chemical medicine. Combination of Mangifera indica L. and Syzygium polyanthum ethanolic leaves extract can be used as antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic that can decreased triglycerides levels in the body. Goal : The aim of this study was to determine the effect of combination ethanolic leaves extract of Mangifera indica L. and Syzygium polyanthum activity on triglycerides levels in diabetic Rattus norvegicus. Method : the study is used post only control group design method with using 36 Rattus norvegicus which is divided into 3 control groups (K(S), K(+), K(-)) and 3 treatment groups. Thin Layer Chromatograpgy also used in this research to identify the secondary metabolites of Mangifera indica L. dan Syzygium polyanthum ethanolic leaves extract. enzymatic colorimetric test GPO-PAP method is used to measure of triglycerides levels. The data were analyzed by One Way Anova method. Result and Discussion : Preliminary qualitative phytochemical screening using Thin Layer Chromatography reveals the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids terpenoids, tannins and antraquinones. According to statictic result of one way anova method there were significant difference with significant value 0,008 (p<0,05), and there were significant differences between K (-) with K (+), P1, P2, and P3 (p <0.05). However, there was no difference between group P1, P2 and P3 (p> 0,05). The combination of Mangifera indica L. dan Syzygium polyanthum ethanolic leaves extract with various doses (84 mg/200gBB : 720 mg/200gBB), (42 mg/200gBB : 360 mg/200gBB), dan (42 mg/200gBB : 720 mg/200gBB) can decreased the levels of triglyceride with highest decrease level descriptively in various dose of (42 mg/200gBB : 720 mg/200gBB) with average value 30,5 mg/dL.
