- Along with the mushrooming of popular industries that are displayed intensely in electronic media, especially television. The world of teenagers who are peppered with romance has become a product that is increasingly selling and promising profits for the domestic entertainment industry. Portraits of teenage friendship and romance that are dramatically framed in soap operas seem to draw its own interest for teenagers. This was evidenced by the success of the white and gray soap opera and followed by handsome wolf shows and soap operas of street children in 2015. This research was conducted to find out the forms of adolescent appreciation in street children soap operas on RCTI. This study uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were adolescents, while the criteria that must be possessed were adolescents aged 15-17 years, teenagers who watched and followed the soap opera story of street children, teenagers who were willing to be interviewed as informants. The research was conducted at SMA 10 Malang. Sampling determination uses purposive sampling. In this study, researchers used source triangulation, which means comparing the rechecking of the confidence level of an informant obtained through different sources. From the results of the appreciation study of SMA 10 Malang students in watching the soap opera program of street children on RCTI stated that they understood the story as a whole. By displaying the stories of young people and the storyline that is not monotonous, the subject can understand the event in real life. But there are subjects who respond or criticize the style of clothing worn by the cast. The characterization in street children soap operas is one of the subjects' strengths. Appearance or charming physical condition of the cast becomes the attraction of the subject to watch.
