  • Background : Stroke is a term used to describe a sudden occurrence of a focal neurologic deficit that lasts within 24 hours and occurs due to blood vessels disorders.The use of statin lowers the concentration of LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) and can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, TIA and secondary stroke by stabilizing the atherosclerotic plaque. Aim : This study aims to know the pattern of statin drug use on patients with ischemic stroke at dr. Abdoer Rahem Situbondo Regional Public Hospital. The pattern of use includes the selection of drug types, dosage regimens, route, and time intervals of administration. Method : Observational and retrospective of descriptive research based on medical records of ischemic stroke patients from July - December 2017. Result and Conclusion : The group of statin being used of only simvastatin is on 21 patients. The single usage at most used on 10 patients (53%) contains simvastatin (2 x 20 mg) PO. The combination usage at most used on 2 patients (67%) contains simvastatin (2 x 20 mg) PO + fenofibrate (1 x 300 mg) PO. The use of switch simvastatin (2 x 20 mg PO) + fenofibrate (1x300 mg) PO to Simvastatin (2 x 20 mg) PO is on 1 patient (4%).
