  • Acne is a condition in which the skin pores are clogged that causing red spots and white bumps which are inflamed. It can be caused by Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The treatment is usually done by using antibiotics that may cause resistance, so it is necessary to find a way to solve this problem. Andong plants are wild plants that are usually planted on the edge of the highway. Especially on its stem which contains chemical compounds that potentially inhibit bacterial growth. The aim of this research is to examine the effect of various concentration of andong stem extract (Cordyline fruticosa (L) A. Chev.) And to examine the concentration of andong stem extract (Cordyline fruticosa (L) A. Chev.) that has the best influence to the diameter zone Propionibacterium acnes inhibitory growth. The type of research is True Experiment Research. This study used Posttest Only Control Group Design, involving two groups of subjects, one was given control treatment (-) using aquadest while control (+) using tetracycline and experimental treatment group i.e extract from stem with concentration of 25%, 50%, 75 % and 100%. This study used a complete randomized design (RAL) with 4 repetitions. Data analysis was using one way anova and Duncan test with Sig level. 5%. The results showed that there is an effect of various concentration of stem extract of Andong (Cordyline fruticosa (L) A. Chev.) to the diameter of inhibition zone of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria growth and on the 100 concentration of andong stem extract (Cordyline fruticosa (L) A. Chev.) has the best influence on diameter of inhibition zone of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes growth.
