- According to Halawane, Hidayah and Kinho, "the need for wood in Indonesia is increasing every year, but the availability of wood is decreasing due to deforestation and land degradation" (Halawane, Hidayah dan Kinho, 2011). These problems provide an opportunity to meet market needs by developing fast growing species with a short cutting rotation, such as white jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba (Roxb.) Miq.). This research was conducted to determine the effect of doses of trichocompost and types of planting media on the growth of white Jabon seedlings. The research was conducted in March to July 2018 in the DOME Backyard Garden, Muhammadiyah University of Malang. This research uses a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Factorial consists of two factors. The first factor, the dose of trichocompost consists of four levels (P), namely without the provision of trichocompost , 50 gr/polybag, 100 gr/polybag and 150 gr/polybag. The second factor is the composition of the planting medium which consists of 3 levels of media composition used, namely top soil, manure (chicken, goat and cow) and husk charcoal. Each combination treatment was repeated 3 times (4x3x3 = 36 experimental units). The variables observed were height, diameter, root length, wet weight and dry weight of seedlings. Analysis of the data of this study using variance analysis and DMRT follow-up. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there was an interaction of the combination of treatments between the dose of trichocompost (P) and the type of planting media (M) on the variable height, diameter, wet weight, dry weight and seedling root length. The combination of the treatment dose of trichocompost 150 gr/polybag and soil planting media + chicken manure + husk charcoal (P3M1) showed the highest yield trend compared to other treatment combinations, but the seed height variable was not significantly different from the combination of the dose treatment given trichocompost 150 gr/polybag and soil planting media + goat manure + husk charcoal (P3M2) at the age of observation of the first week to the fifth and the diameter variable was not significantly different at all ages of observations.
