- This study aims to describe the grouping of information in Minangkabau language communication with the Java community in Malang. The subject of this research is the HIMATOS board (the Society Association of Toboh Gadang and Surrounding). HIMATOS itself is a community of Minangkabau Padang Pariaman. This research uses descriptive qualitative research type with naturalistic research base. Data collection techniques used are interviews, while the sampling technique that researchers use is purposive sampling. In this study there are 11 people who meet the criteria for the subject of research. Then the theories used by Tadasu Todd Imahori and William R. Cupach consisting of three stages of experimental stage, emmeshment and renegotiation. The results of this study indicate that in the experiments (trial), Minangkabau ethnic can pass through identity freeze, non-referral problem, identity identity, and affirmation of cultural values. At the stage of emmeshment, the term Minangkabau has had a level of comfort and begins to share the rules with the Javanese term. Then in the renegotiation phase, the term Minangkabau has a strong relationship identity, some cultures are easier to overcome because there is already a foundation for doing so. Identity identity that Minangkabau does cause conflict, change and change.
