- The process of communication takes into two directions, affect each other, and fill each other to form a new cultural pattern. This goes on continuously and in equitable conditions between individuals or groups. This study aims to determine and describe the process of cultural communication between ethnic Javanese and Banjar in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative research type. The analytical technique used is the ethnography of communication model Engkus Kuswarno. Data obtained by in-depth interview techniques, then analyzed interview result and supported by the theory of social exchange. Subjects are determined through purposive sampling and get nine subjects from communication science students in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The results shows, all subjects stated that there is changing obtained in communication through language and daily interaction, but does not affect in interacting with other ethnicities. Arriving of the Banjar ethnic group in Java, students make and receive culture with each other while maintaining their own cultural identity.
