- Lately, demand on energy is increase. Therefore, alternative energy opportunities, in this case renewable energy such as solar power, geothermal energy, biomass, hydropower and wind power. Wind power are built a device such as a wind turbine is needed to convert wind energy into electricity so that it can be used as alternative energy. This design aims to produce a residential-scale wind turbine design with the required power at an average wind speed of 5 m/s based on wind obtained from local data in this case in the Rembang District of Central Java. This design is started with collecting data in the form of wind rate from the destination area and also need to plan the power requirements, then designing the wind turbine includes calculating the dimensions of the propeller, hub, and tail (guide tail). Component selection includes the final drive (gear), alternator, battery, and inverter The blade geometry is selected with a 7% curved plate with the consideration that the blade will be easier to obtain on the market and made by mechanics. This wind turbine is designed according to the wind speed condition which consists of 3 blades, which has advantages, that is: small blade load, low tower disturbance, good start up, constant working, no noise and stable aerodynamic load. The initial rotation of the rotor at a wind speed of 2.5 m/s. The output power of the alternator is 160 - 780 Watt. The 12V-70Ah battery can be fully charged for 1.2 hours. With a maximum power consumption for 4 hours.
