- This research was conducted on 25 July - 24 August 2017 at Natural Feed Farming Laboratory of Brackish Water Aquaculture (BPBAP) Situbondo, East Java. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of Azola pellata fertilizer concentration on population density and protein content of Spirulina platensis, and to get concentration of Azola (Azolla pinnata) liquid fertilizer to population density and Spirulina platensis protein content in laboratory scale. The research method used is experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (RAL) which then analyzed data by using variance analysis (ANAVA). This research used 6 treatment of Azola (Azolla pinnata); (A concentration of 4 ml/L), (C concentration of 6 ml/L), (D concentration of 8 ml/L), (E 10 concentration 10 ml/L) and (F walne fertilizer as control 1 ml/L), each with three replications. The results showed that the concentration of Azolla (Azolla pinnata) fertilizer gave effect to the population density of Spirulina pltensis. At treatment E 10 ml/L gave the best result to Spirulina platensis population density, with density of 1,417,600 cells/ml, followed by D 8 ml/L treatment with population density of 1,103,400 cells/ml, C 6 ml/L with a population density of 1,022,700 cells/ml, B 4 ml/L with a population density of 988,766.67 cells/ml and A concentration of 2 ml/L with an average population density of 962,600 cells/ml. The results of protein content analysis showed that in each treatment, Azola (Azolla pinnata) dosage of 2 ml/L (25.73%), 4 ml/L (31,38%), 6 ml/L (39,83 %), 8 ml/L (41,16%), 10 ml/L (45,43%) and walne fertilizer control 1 ml/L (27,73%). The highest amount of protein was treated at a dose of 10 ml/L. Based on the results of the water quality measurement is still feasible to support the metabolic process and growth of Spirulina platensis cells during the study, ie water temperature ranged between 20-25oC, salinity ranged between 32-33 ppt, and pH ranging from 8.35 to 8.40. The conclusion of this research is Azola (Azolla pinnata) liquid fertilizer which gives the best influence to population and protein content of Spirulina platensisi using Azola (Azolla pinnata) liquid fertilizer with concentration 10 ml/L.
