- The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning activities and problem-solving skills with STAD type cooperative learning. This research uses qualitative and quantitative approach with descriptive type. Subjects in this study were students of class VII B Junior Catholic Marsudisiwi Malang in the odd semester of academic year 2017/2018 which amounted to 22 students. Data collection method used in this research is test and observation. The result of the research shows that: 1) student learning activity on learning process using STAD type cooperative learning showed improvement in every meeting either from aspect of visual activities, oral activites, mental activities, motor activities, and writing activities with good criteria and 2) ability problem solving students using STAD type cooperative learning shows aspects of understanding, planning, completing and checking with good criteria.
