- Free To Play is a documentary that tells the journey of three main characters as a professional gamer, with a different career story in the path of e-sports. Career as a professional gamer reap a lot of rejection, especially from people nearby. But they prove their chosen path as positive. Researcher is interested in analyzing the meaning of Free To Play documentary content. The researchers used Morley's receptions study and his theories to analyze the acceptance and meaning of the study subjects. The subject of this research is 8 members of DOTA 2 Indonesia community. Subjects sampling were taken by quota sampling method. Data was collected by 14 in-depth interviews with four categorizations, video games, e-sports, main characters and scenes. This research uses analytical techniques of Miles and Huberman with triangulation of data as reliability test. Researcher used the tables for ease in analyzing the results of the meaning of the research subjects. Of the 112 interviews with research subjects related to the meaning of Free To Play documentary contents. Researcher found the three groups of text readers, namely dominant, negotiated and oppositional. The researcher concludes the explanation of negotiated in a categorization is a meaning which has 2 or more different types of reporting. The overall results of 4 categories with 8 subjects, this study shows 67 meanings dominant, 29 are negotiated and 16 are oppositional. The conclusion of the results of this study is, the entire subject of research interpret the content of the Free To Play documentary are dominant.
