- Every family always yearns for a whole and harmonious family, away from quarrels and divisions. But every family has a problem and the problem doesn’t come just like that, but there are causes. The main cause of the occurrence of broken home that is, divorce occurs due to disorientation between husband and wife in building households, silent culture when the lack of communication and dialogue between family members, immature attitudes of parents because parents only think themselves of the child, and parents who less responsibility with reason work busy. The term broken home is usually used to describe the family atmosphere that is not harmonious and the unfavorable condition of a harmonious and prosperous family that causes conflict and division within the family. Researchers use Social Penetration Theory, which explains the stages in which individuals move from supervisory communication to more intimate communication (Alyman & Taylor). It also explains that with the development of extensive relationships and depths it will increase. When a relationship becomes damaged, the breadth and depth are often decreased (but not always), the process is called penetration. In this theory there are four stages in the development of sosisal in the process of communication in human life, among them Orientation, Expective Explorative Exchange, Affective Exchange, balanced exchange. The research method used is case study with qualitative approach. Subjects of research which amounted to 6 (six) people. Technique used in determining research subject that is Total Sampling technique, data collecting technique use interview and documentation. Test data validity of researcher use Triangulation Source of data to compare data of result of observation with interview data. This study intends to know the Personal Communication Of Families broken home. The purpose of this study is to determine the condition of broken home family, how children and parents interpret the importance of communication within the family, and also the impact of divorce. The results showed that the family broken home condition is a family condition that is not harmonious, not running like a harmonious, peaceful, and prosperous family. Communication between children and parents indicates that they behave in accordance with their own self-assessment, that of a child who is not a harmonious family. In addition children broken home and parents realize the importance of communication in the family, but in fact it can’t be realized.
