- This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the words “beautiful” attached to women who are expert at applying makeup, not least for the students, because makeup can build self-confidence. Through YouTube, messages about beauty delivered by the beauty vloggers are packaged into video in order to make the audience easier to get the point. Indeed, the messages conveyed in the communication process are designed to cause certain effects on the recipient. One example of the effect is in the form of imitation behavior, which is a behavior that begins from the process of observing to finally imitate. The purpose of this study is to find out how much the influence of thr exposure of beauty vlogger on YouTube to the imitation behavior of female students in doing makeup. This research used quantitative method based on survey. The technique used in determining the subject was by total sampling technique and data collection techniques using questionnaires. The test used in this study included the validity, reliability, normality kolmogorov smirnov, linearity, and simple linear regression analysis. The result of the research on 65 students of Communication Science University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Academic Year 2013, by establishing the level of significance of 5% is obtained t value of 5.744> t table 1.998 then there is a significant influence between exposure variable video beauty vlogger on YouTube to the variable imitation behavior of female students in doing makeup face. The magnitude coefficient of determination is 0.346, which means the video beauty vlogger exposure on YouTube gives a fairly large effect of 34.6% on the imitation behavior of female students in doing makeup. On regression test is determined equation Y = 2,902 + 1,107x, meaning every increase of exposure variable video beauty vlogger on YouTube equal to 1% can raise the level of student's imitation behavior in doing makeup of 1,107.
