- Optimism is a positive attitude or expectation held by individuals even when faced in a state that is not pleasant. Social support serves as a protector of distress that can change a negative outlook.People with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) often gets stigma, discrimination, and the negative perception that comes from the social environment. At this time HIV is a disease dreaded by many circle, so far not finding cure for the virus. Purpose of this research is to determine social support for optimism on survivors of HIV and AIDS. The research subject is 50 PLWHA are aged 20-50 years with atechnique. snowball sampling. This research used test of simple linear regressiont. The results showed that there are effect of social support on optimism that are owned by people living with HIV as indicated by F count (14.085) with signif significance (p) = 0.000> 0.05, with a contribution of predictive value of 22.7%. and the rest influenced by other factors.
