- Interpersonal communication is one kind of two-way communication which is done by humans, indcluding marriage couples. In married life, one requires a supportive communication in order to achieve a positive assessment of married life so that they needs effective communication skills. Newly-weds couple is an adaptation phase of couples in making a new family in their first 5 years of marriage. The purpose of this research is to determine the effext of interpersonal communication on husband and wife on their marital satisfaction. This research is a non experimental quantitative method with ex post facto design. This research is using total sampling method with 160 subjects (80 couples) aged 20 to 40 years old, with a marriage age of 0.5 years to 5 years, who live in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan. Regression analysis from this research found that interpersonal communication give positive impacts to marital satisfaction of husband or wife in their first 5 years of marriage.
