- The purpose of research to know errors that do by students in satisfying algebra story question and motive factor in it. The research use qualitative-quantitative approach and kind of research is descriptive. Research subject is Grade VII. The data collecting is used by test method and interview. The research instrument uses test questions and interview guidelines. Based research result, the most error that did by student in reading step is 24.54%. This error is caused by student is not thorough in reading question. The error in comprehension is most error that did by student is 67.9%. It caused by student is not understand what is knowing and questioning completely. The most error in transformation step is 69.24%. This error is caused by student is not knowing formula and concept that used. The most error in skill process that did by student is 70.23%. This error is caused by student is not doing question thoroughly and less understanding steps that must be used for solving the problem in question. The most error in encoding step is 87.24 %. This error is caused by student is less thorough in answering question and is not check again their work result.
