- Extreme obsession for having such a perfect body shape or physical appearance indicating that the woman has the characteristic of body dysmorphic disorder tendency. The psychological factor mostly influence the development of body dysmorphic disorder tendency is self-esteem. The aim of this research is to know the correlation of self-esteem and body dysmorphic disorder tendency. This research used correlation quantitative research and the sampling technique used was accidental sampling of 350 collage girls of Malang Muhammadiyah University. The correlation test result of self-esteem variable over body dysmorphic disorder tendency using product moment analysis shows the probability (sig 2-tailed) 0.00 < 0.05 which means that both variables have significant correlation, with the value of correlation -0.438. That means higher self-esteem causing lower body dysmorphic disorder tendency and vice versa lower self-esteem causing higher body dysmorphic disorder tendency
