  • Actually women identical as “the others”, the existence of a patriarchal culture that is rooted in a society increasingly perpetuate woman’s position as sub ordinates. Not only in domestic sphere, women are also understood as “the others” on public sphere. Male dominance in a work sytem causes the position of women increasingly marginalized, there is a barrier between the working area of men and women. This research explains about how women laborers are understood as the others in work system at Fish Auction Place (TPI) of Brondong Village. The purpose of this research is to know and understand the women labour is understood as the others in the work system at Fish Auction Place (TPI) of Brondong Village. This used a qualitative approach with the type of phenomenology research, to know and understand the social constructs in local communities that confine women labourers in the understanding of work systems that are in male domination. The data related to this research is obtained through the process of observation, interview, and documentation to 10 subjects selected based on criteria through purposive random sampling technique. 10 people are women laborers who are involved in the work system at Fish Auction Place (TPI) of Brondong Village. The theory used to analyze the phenomena is social construction by Petter L. Berger and Luckman. The theory has the concept that social construction is formed by the existence of dialectics through the process of externalization (the process of adjustment and self-expression), objectivation (the process of social interaction in the intersubjective world institutionalized by the process of institutionalization), and internalization (the process of reimposing the objective world into individual consciousness) . The results of this research show that the women laborers in the work system at the Fish Auction Place (TPI) of Brondong Village are understood as the others when the women labour are only placed in the work area as a fish sorting, while other work areas must be occupied by male laborers. Women laborers in the process become the others is divided into 3 phases, including: the recruitment phase (when the first women labor enrolls), the working phase (when the women laborers are in the work system), and the liyan phase (a phase that indicates a women labour's position on the others) .
