- Corrosion is a decreasing of metals’ quality because of the electrochemical reactions between metal and corrosive environments. In the industrial field, corrosion is one of problematics that often occurs and it is disadvantageous. One of the ways to inhibit the rate of corrosion is by using bio-inhibitors. Bio-inhibitors are selected because they are made from natural ingredients that have biodegradable, safe, eco-friendly, easy to obtain, and cheap. This research used three variations of solution i.e. 1M HC1 without addition of inhibitor, 1M HCl solution that was added with 25 ml inhibitors and 50 ml inhibitors. And the time variations used for the tests were 6, 12, and 18 days. The result d this research showed that in the system, which was added by 25 ml inhibitors, had the corrosion rate average of 336,997 mpy on the 6 days test. While in the system, which was added by 50 ml inhibitors, had corrosion rate average of 264,099 mpy on the 6 days test. And the value of this corrosion rate would continue to increase over time.
