- Research conducts based on problem which on X IPS 2 grade in MAN 1 Kota Malang namely the most of students make a mistake when they finished narrative narrative questions. The aim of research is knowing kind of mistake who conducted by students through evaluate of Newman criteria and the frequently of mistake by students. Research held on January 8-18th 2018. The form of research data is writing test and interview to support result of writing test. Research subject is 39 students then selection in 6 students by three ability categories are high, medium, and low after that analyzed related to answer which have been conducted. Researcher searchs average of student’s mistake to make certain the kind of mistake which often conduct by students. Data analyze conducts with descriptive qualitative technique by the step describing collecting data. Result of research shows on the reading stage did not mistake which conduct by students, on the understanding stage is finding a mistake namely students cannot write information in the question test completely, on the transformation stage if the students cannot certain the method which used be their hidrance to next stage, on the skill process there are still finding mistake in counting process and answer in question test. From all of the students which have high skill, the kind of mistake which often conduct by the students is understanding in 33,33% .The students with medium skill, their kind of mistake is last answer written in 60%. While the students have low skill, their kind of mistake is last answer written in 75,93 %.
