- Innovative Governance is an innovation undertaken by Local Government to condition, facilitate and regenerate innovative practices in public interest management. In the system there are elements of government and there are also elements of society, therefore the management of public interest that will be the discussion in this paper is waste management in Batu City. The purpose of this research is to know the innovation of Batu City Government in waste management based on the indicators of innovative government. In this study found that the waste management in Batu City which is done by Batu City Government is to be the responsibility of Batu City Environmental Office. Batu City Environmental Office got the duty to maintain the cleanliness and garbage problem in Batu City since 2017, which used to be the responsibility of the Public Works Department of Cipta Karya and Tata Ruang Batu Town. Thus TPA Tlekung TPA which became the final dumping place and waste management site in Batu Town become the authority of Batu City Environmental Office. However, the regulation of Batu City Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2014 on Waste Management has not been valid yet since it has not been signed by the Mayor of Batu. Batu City Local Government is quite adequate as an innovative government in waste management when measured from the five indicators of innovative governance. Innovation for the region and society today is methane gas and organic liquid fertilizer, the development of innovation resources that is by adding new hangar as waste processing machine, oriented to the public interest is now Tlekung TPA service has been serving all districts in Batu, the budget for waste management comes from the General Allocation Fund (DAU), while the involvement of the community is active in the environmental and waste communities in Batu City, in cooperation with the Batu City Government and the TNI and Police officers.
