- The strategic location around the sea and the mainland district of West Nusa Tenggara Province has a tourism sector that can be managed with sustainable development using the concept of ecotourism. One of the tourist attractions that have good potential is Kenawa Island. The development of the existing potential in Kenawa Island needs to be done to increase the attractiveness of the island. Therefore, this study aims to know and describe the potentials that exist in Kenawa Island as well as determine the strategies that can be developed for the existing potential in Kenawa Island. This research was conducted in Kenawa Island, West Sumbawa regency in December 2017. The method used is descriptive method by describing the existing situation according to the observation result with the analysis tool used is SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis will help researchers in determining the strategy taken after knowing the potentials that exist in Kenawa Island West Sumbawa regency West Nusa Tenggara Province. The result of this research is the potential of Kenawa Island Ecotourism Area in the form of landscape land and sea landscape which has beautiful scenery also activities that attract tourists. For the determination of strategies taken in ecotourism development, the SWOT result of the ecotourism development strategy is aggressive where the opportunity and strength factors are utilized in ecotourism development.
