- The absurdity of the characters is a form of irrationality that occurs in the actors who play a role in the story. Events that occur illogically was commonly considered to be nonsense. But in the novel Semua Ikan di Langit by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie there was a uniqueness that leads to characters who play an unreasonable role but could provide learning to the reader. Based on this, then the formulation of the problem in this study was (1) how the forms of the absurdity of the characters in the novel Semua Ikan di Langit by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie (2) how the functions of the characters' absurdity forms in the novel Semua Ikan di Langit by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie. This study aimed to describe the forms of the absurdity of characters and functions of the forms of the absurdity of characters on the objects used in the study. The method used in this study was qualitative descriptive by using the absurdity study by Albert Camus. Sources of data used were quotations in the form of language units that include words, sentences, and paragraphs contained in the novel Semua Ikan di Langit by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie. The data analyzed leads to a text that shows the form of the absurdity of the characters, and the function of the absurdity of characters in the object of the study. The data is processed by several steps, including (1) data collection, (2) preparation of research instruments, (3) data analysis, (4) checking the validity of data. Through the analysis and discussion did, it has come to the conclusion that in the novel that was used as the object of the study there are forms of absurdity of characters that include forms of alienation, the form of life meaning, the form of suicide, the form of hope, and the form of rebellion. These five forms are related to each other and through the forms appears functions that could be useful for the reader. These functions include the emergence of the sensitivity of the soul and the realization of self-awareness. In this case, the emergence of the sensitivity of the soul towards a person disclose the soul itself even more easier to react the feeling, while the function of awareness motivate that person take an action as the manifest of self-improvement.
