  • This study aims to examine the impact of work motivation and competence on employee performance and to know which variable that has most significant impact on employee performance. The population in this study is 59 employees in the production unit; meanwhile, sample was selected by using total sampling technique. This study, moreover, used Likert Scale to measure the level of work motivation, competence, and employee performance. Further, Multiple Linear Regression analysis was also used to examine the impact of work motivation and competence on employee performance. The findings show that work motivation is considered sufficient with average score of 171.8; competence is considered moderate with average score of 169.2; and employee performance is considered high with average score of 172.6. Meanwhile, the result of Multiple Linear Regression analysis indicate that work motivation and competence have a significant impact on employee performance. The second hypothesis test was obtained by comparing the result of regression coefficient indicating that work motivation has stronger impact on employee performance. Eventually, this study suggests the company to improve employee performance and to actively motivate the employees in order to achieve their maximal performance. It also suggests the company to improve employee competence through several trainings.
