- Late adolescent has duty to continue the study. It sometime makes them move from their hometown. In line with the changes that occur, new students are faced by different requirement from previous phase. There are many new students who are ready but also many of those are not. Furthermore, they have problems in adapting such as social anxiety. The subject in this research was new students in University of Muhammadiyah Malang that were amounted 332 people. It was taken by simple random sampling technique. Collecting data method used social anxiety scale compiled by Solihat (2011) and it had reliability of 0.904. data analysis technique used Independent Sample T-test. The result of the research found that t = 21.869 with p = 0.000. It means that there are social anxiety between students who live wit parents and students who live in boarding house. New students who live in boarding house have higher social anxiety ( x = 84,903) than new students who live with their parents ( x =65,228).
