  • Relationship contingent self-esteem is a form of unhealthy self-esteem due to its tendency to be contingent on the existence and the state of a romantic relationship owned by an individual. This form self-esteem tends to be unstable and fragile. One of the factors that can influence the formation of relationship contingent self-esteem is parents. Specifically, this study discusses the influence of a father’s involvement on relationship contingent self-esteem on his young adult daughter. This study is a quantitative non-experimental research with causal associative design using cross-sectional approach. Sampling method used in this study is purposive sampling with 335 respondents of young adult women aged 18-28 currenlty in romamtic relationship or engagement with their partner spanning from a few months to more than a year. The result of regression analysis showed a significant negative influence of father’s involvement on relationship contingent self-esteem (F = 34,149; p = 0,000).
