  • Reinforcement of character building implementation is one of applicable programs that is good for education especially in Indonesia. This program is purposed to enhance students’ character building in order to direct students to be good future generations which has good moral value, attitude and culture through philosophy of pancasila. SDN Sumbersari 1 is one of elementary schools that has already administered character building reinforcement. As a matter of fact, this implementation is still not maximally applied. This recent study is aimed to describe: (1) implementation of character building reinforcement at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang, (2) problems faced by the teachers in implementing character building reinforcement at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang, and (3) problem solving to overcome the problems in implementing character building reinforcement at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative. The researcher decided to choose the headmaster, teachers of III and IV grades, and the students of III and IV grades as the primary source of data. This study was carried out on February 1st - 17th, 2018. The instruments used were interview, observation and documentation which also considered as the triangulation techniques through member check in order to ensure the trusthworthiness of the obtained data from participants. The result of the data analysis of the character building reinforcement at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang shows that: (1) character building at SDN Sumbersari 1 Malang has been implemented since 2013, and it changed into character building reinforcement in 2017, (2) the implementation of character building reinforcement is also applied by the teachers in lesson plan during thematic teaching and learning process which is appropriate for 5 components of the character building reinforcement, (3) teachers has already integrated the importance of character building in the beginning until the end of the teaching process. The obstacles found were: (1) the lack of innovative teaching media used in teaching process, (2) teaching practice was not based on lesson plan, (3) students are less interaction one another during teaching and learning process. Problem solving: (1) providing the innovative teaching media which supports teaching and learning process, (2) implementing teaching and learning process based on the lesson plan.
