- This study aims to describe the implementation of strengthening character education on thematic learning in grade IV SDN Mojolangu 2 Malang and to describe the obstacles that faced by teachers in implementing the strengthening of character education on thematic learning in grade IV SDN Mojolangu 2 Malang. This research used qualitative research with descriptive research type. Sources of data, selected from the fourth grade teacher and fourth grade students SDN Mojolangu 2 Malang in the form of documentation data. This research was conducted in January 2018. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and document analysis. Data analysis using Miles and Hubermen model is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the implementation of strengthening character education consists of planning and implementation. Lesson planning tends not to be made by the teachers themselves, but has already shown the integration of character education. In terms of implementation, teachers implement it through learning activities and learning methods, spontaneous activities, nationalist cultivation, and refraction and exemplary. In thematic learning the teacher develops and instill the five values of character developed by the Ministry of National Education. The obstacles that faced by the teachers in implementing character education are limited facilities and infrastructure in the form of learning media, learning method, attitude assessment.
