- Mathematics perhaps can be defined as an abstract school subject. The comprehension of the abstract theory is very diverse. However, elementary school students were in concrete operational phase. Consequently, the use of appropriate media is helpful for students in understanding the concept of an abstract mathematics subject. This study aimed to develop interesting learning media, which is Pop Up Box, that can facilitate students to easily understand the concept of the plane figure in mathematics for 3rd grade students at SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang. In this present study, the researcher uses ADDIE model as the kind of development research study. ADDIE model has 5 stages; 1) Analysis (Analyze), 2) Design (Design), 3) Development (Development), 4) Implementation (Implementation), 5) Evaluate (Evaluate). The subject of this study is 34 students in the 3rd-grade at SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang. The pre-test was conducted in the small groups consists of six students and the large one is about 28 students. The object of this research is the student comprehension of the concept of a plane figure in mathematics. The data collection methods used in this study are interview, observation, questionnaire and test methods. Qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques are used to find the value from the questionnaire and the results of student learning tests. The results showed that Pop-Up Box media is feasible and effective to be used as media in teaching plane figure for the elementary school student. The percentage of media eligibility obtained 97.03% (very feasible), the material feasibility was 83.87% (Eligible), and also the learning feasibility was 86.88% (very feasible). The small group’s media effectiveness reached 83.16 with classical completeness at 83.33%. Therefore, the large groups got 80 as average score and the classical completeness at 78.57%. As the result, Pop Up Box is feasible and effective to be used as plane figure learning media for mathematics subject for the 3rd-grade elementary student.
