PENGARUH EKSTRAK KULIT KAYU MANIS (Cinnamomum burmannii) TERHADAP KADAR LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN (LDL) TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN STRAIN WISTAR (Rattus norvegicus) MODEL DIABETIK

- Background : Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is one of the complications of Diabetes Melitus (DM). Hyperglycemia disrupts lipid metabolism and increase Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) which is atherogenic. Cinnamon bark extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) contains cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, and cinnamate have potential to inhibit HMG-CoA reductase and Malonyl-CoA. Objective : : To determine the effect of Cinnamon Bark extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) towards the level of LDL male rats strain wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Method : This research used True Experimental Post Test Only Control Group Design. Sample was divided into four groups. Positive control were given alloxan 160 mg/Kg body weight single dose, P1, P2 and P3 were treated with alloxan and cinnamon bark extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) at doses of 100, 200, 400 (mg/Kg body weight/day) for 14 days. Data were analyzed by using One Way Anova, Pos Hoc Bonferoni and linier regression. Results and Discussion : The mean of LDL level in positive control was 128,004 mg/dL, P1 77.396 mg/dL, P2 43.354 mg/dL, P3 24.432 mg/dL. One Way Anova test showed significant influence (p=000). Pos Hoc Bonferoni test resulted in (p<0,05). Linier regression test showed R2=0,859, which meant there were significant effect from the cinnamon bark exctract (Cinnamomum burmannii) towards the decrease mean LDL level. Conclusion : Cinnamon Bark Extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) decrease LDL level of diabetic model wistar strain male white rats (Rattus norvegicus), with minimum effective dose 100 mg/Kg Body Weight/day.
