  • Character education (PPK) is one of education programs in school for reinforcing the students’ character of which character is based on the five-basic principle of the Republic of Indonesia (Pancasila). The implementation of character education through school culture is conducted in order to form the good and cultured of students’ character. This research aimed at finding out: (1) the implementation of PPK through school culture in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang, (2) the obstacles found in the implementation of PPK through school culture in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang, and (3) the solutions which was conducted by school to solve the obstacles that found in the implementation of PPK through school culture in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang. This research used qualitative research and the kind of descriptive research. Data sources of this research were headmaster, the teacher of III A class, and the teacher of VB class in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang. This research was conducted on odd semester (I) in the academic year of 2017/2018 by using data collection technique such as interview, observation, and documentation for obtaining the data about the implementation of PPK through school culture in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang. The result showed that (1) the implementation of PPK through school culture in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang was conducted through the habituation activities in school environment such as programmed routine activities that integrate the value of PPK, (2) the obstacles, which were faced in the implementation of PPK through school culture in SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang, were the less of parents’ cooperation in educating their children in home, and also the students were not being accustomed with the character education activities and they were difficult to arrange, (3) the solutions, which used by the school, were conducting a briefing and doing a cooperation with the parents.
