  • SDN Purwantoro 1 Malang has already well applied thematic leaning. However, regarding to the media used, teachers has not yet engaged learning media in teaching thematic. In addition, teachers frequently leave the class during teaching and learning process that result in student learning such as, student should learn independently with thematic book under supervision of picket teacher. Furthermore, the utilization of computer laboratory as supporting facility of learning process has not been optimizing. Therefore, the development of interactive multimedia is needed to help the students learn independently. This study is aimed to investigate the appropriateness and the practical of using interactive multimedia in third grade students of elementary school. This study used ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) as the model of this study. Interview, observation, and documentation were used as the data collection technique. Meanwhile, data collection instrument used interview guideline, observation form, questionnaire validation, and questionnaire student responses. Descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative was used as the data analyzing technique. Hence, the researcher used 40 students from third grade of SDN Purwantoro 1 Malang as the data sources. This study was conducted on December 2017. In this study, the development of interactive multimedia based on ADDIE models held in five phase which are (1) Analyze, analyzing of the facility, material in teaching thematic, and the media used in teaching thematic, (2) Design, determining the material in teaching thematic, KI, KD, indicator, purpose of the study, and determined design of media which was Storyboard (3) Development, determining multimedia interactive using Adobe Flash CS 6, conducting media validation to the expert (expert in media, material, and elementary school learning), (4) Implementation, conducting product trial, (5) Evaluation, evaluating every step or formative evaluation from the Analyze, Design, Development, and Implementation. The appropriateness of the product of interactive multimedia shown by validation result of media expert was 94% with the detail of very valid. Furthermore, material expert was obtained total percentage up to 92% with very valid detail while Elementary School Learning expert obtained 98.75% which was very valid. Therefore, interactive multimedia was categorized as appropriate as learning media. The practicality of the used of multimedia interactive shown by students’ response form showed 97% and had information of practice. Therefore interactive multimedia categorized as practice because it was easy to use in elementary school, especially for third grade students of elementary school. Hence, it is suggested to use as references in developing learning media that can support the successful of thematic learning.
