  • A campaign strategy is essential for the presidential candidate to win a presidential election. Through campaign strategies such as by delivering programs and raising important issues of interest to the public, candidates can promote community support. Donald Trump is a presidential candidate whose level of popularity is below his political opponent Hillary Clinton. But in the results of the US election in 2016, the name of Donald Trump managed to get out as the 45th US President to replace Barack Obama. The type of research undertaken by the authors is descriptive explanation in which the author attempts to explain Donald Trump's political strategy used during campaigning both through online and offline media, as well as discussing the programs offered by Donald Trump in order to gain public support. The results of this study indicate that Donald Trump either through online or offline media, campaigning with programs that attract the public interest, and trying to bring down his political opponents with a negative campaign. Donald Trump also uses social media to convey his political messages and controversial statements that make his name increasingly highlighted. The commodification of Islam and immigrants became Donald Trump's way of reaching public sympathy. By leveraging US citizens' concerns about security issues as well as with local economic strengthening programs such as tax cuts, priority on domestic industrial products, and employment opening, Donald Trump has finally won the 2016 US elections.
