- This experimental research investigated to know potention of jatropha curcas L oil to became basic substance for manufacturing biolubricant. Statistical data of manufacturing oil and gas nature in the year 1996-2015 Ministry of National Development Planning has decreased every year. Jatropha curcas L oil chosen due to high oil content, but in it contained poison, so it can't use as food oil. The methode that use for manufacturing bio lubricant is epoxidation reaction methode. Epoxidation reaction chosen due to this reaction is suitable for vegetable oil saturation that can give endurance effect to oxidation. From research resulted greatest value of oxiran number 11,9806 at temperature 70oC. That temperature is optimum temperature from epoxidation reaction. temperature above it can trigger opening of oxiran ring that be marked with increasing of viscosity. Characteristic of bio lubricant at the reaction temperature 70oC as follows : acid number is 3,29, saponification number is 14,6, density is 0,728, kinematic viscosity resulting from temperature 40oC is 17 cSt and at temperature100oC is 8 cSt, viscosity indeks is 195,12, and value of flash point is 160oC. Result of research shown that jatropha curcas oil can be made basic substance for bio lubricant manufacturing. value of viscosity at temperature 100oC is equivalent with value of viscosity at ISO VG 68, AGMA Lubricant No.2, SAE 80W Gears Oil, SAE 20 Engine Oil.
