- This research focuses on the utilization of banana stem fiber as an alternative material for metal material. The use of banana stem fiber aims to determine the effect of variation of volume fraction using Yukalac polyester resin 157 BTQN-EX. In this study used variation of volume fraction of 5%, 6%, 7% and 8% with impact test model JB-300. From result of research of impact test show average impact price at composite of banana stem fiber obtained result at fraction volume of 8% amplifier obtained composite with highest impact price that is 0,570 Joule / mm2. While the lowest composite impact price at the fraction of the volume of 5% amplifier amounted to 0.506 Joule / mm2. The percentage of fiber volume fraction has an effect on the nature of composite impact strength where high fiber ratio will give high impact strength properties.
