  • Based on observation and interview on IV grade at MI Hidayatul Mubtadiin regarding the use of teaching material in classroom, it is only used thematic teaching material from the government which are teacher’s and students’ book and it still used handbook based on KTSP curriculum to support material. It is because teaching materials from the government is considered less facilitating for students. Another problem is in learning, although students are in group, they still do the task individually. One of the developments that can be applied to obtain optimal result is by developing group-based or cooperative learning-based thematic material as a handbook in classroom. This study aims to determine the feasibility and the availability of teaching material through validity test and small and large group test. This development research of cooperative learning-based thematic handbook is conducted in five stages of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development modelAnalyzing stage consists of competence analysis, characteristic analysis and material analysis. Designing stage consists of matters relating to the design of product development that is Cooperative Learning- based thematic handbook. Development stage is product development and validation Cooperative Learning- based thematic handbook which is done through two stages, those are: validation of teaching material with result value of 96.05% and validation of material experts with result value of 85% in valid category to be used as teaching material in school. Implementation stage consists of small group and large group tests. Evaluation stage consists of formative and summative evaluations. The results of this study are (1) The Development of Thematic Handbook Material Theme 7 Subtheme 1 My Goals and I Cooperative- Based Learning for IV Grade at Primary School. (2) The result of validation test of teaching material experts with result value of 96,05% and validation of material expert with result value of 85%. Students’ response in appraising product attractiveness is 88,5%, large group test conducted to 28 students at IV grade with gives mean score of 86 and teacher’s response is 87,5% so that Cooperative Learning- based thematic handbook is categorized feasible as a group-based teaching material.
