- The use of pipes is widely used for water needs in households, the use of this pipe is most widely used both for the distribution of clean water. By knowing the energy losses on a system that utilizes fluid as a medium, it will determine the level of energy use efficiency. Data analysis in this research is with descriptive statistic technique. The data taken in this research is the characteristics of different types of valve head losses with variations of openings 100%, 75%, and 50%. Graph obtained then compared with different types of valve large value of head loss and friction loss. So it will be seen the influence of openings to the value of head loss flow in the pipe diameter of 1 inch with variations of valve openings. The largest head loss tends to be 100% in the ball valve of 0.493; at 50% openings of 0.078; and on the type of gate valve at 100% opening at 0.598; whereas at 50% opening ie 0.344; While for the biggest friction loss at 100% opening in ball valve equal to 1,727; and on a large gate valve the value obtained for a 100% opening is 2,096; The largest comparison of head losses and friction values is found in the gate valve type with the head losses value of 0.598m with the friction loss of 2.096. The valve opening on the piping system greatly affects the type of flow that occurs and affects the value of the energy generated.
