- The principle of cooperation is a set of assumptions that guide the actions of people in the conversation to achieve good results. In adhering to the principle of cooperation of speakers and the opponents of speech must provide information, facts, and engage the context of the ongoing speech. The principles of cooperation are mutually related to the use of the principle of cooperation in the participation of learners as a form of learner activeness in the classroom based on the compliance of speech during the learning process takes place. Based on the above, the purpose of this research is to describe the maxim of what often arises and adhere to the principles of cooperation, describing how the use of cooperation principles in the participation of learners in the learning of Indonesian class VII SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Batu city. The method used in this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Sources of data in this study is the interaction of teaching and learning as well as the form of data in this study is the teacher's speech with students who meet the principles of cooperation. The data found is processed through several steps, namely observation, and documentation. From some of these processes found the form of principles of cooperation in learning Indonesian language, as well as some documents that serve as one of the accurate evidence. The results of this study show the following two conclusions. 1) the maximal form that meets the principles of cooperation that the teacher emerges with the learners in the learning process of Indonesian class VII includes (a) the maxim of quantity in the form of adequate information and not excessive, (b) the maxim of quality in the form of real and factual information. ) the maxim of relevance that requires each speech to state statements relevant to the topic of conversation and (d) the maxim of implementation that requires to speak clearly and not to confuse. 2) the use of cooperative principles on the participation of learners in (a) visual activity adhere to the maxim of relevance and maximization of implementation, (b) oral activity in the learning process adhere to the maxim of quantity, maxim of quality and maxim of relevance; (c) on listening activities have adhered to the maxim (d) writing activities adhere to the maxim of quality, (e) mental activity in the learning process has adhered to the maxim of quality and maximization of implementation, and (f) emotional activity has adhered to the maxim of quality and maxim of relevance.
