- Dictogloss is a classroom dictation activity where the teacher dictate when the students listening and write down the keywords what they heard and the work in groups to create reconstructed version of the text. There are four stages; such as preparation, dictation, reconstruction, and analysis and correction. The purposes of this study are to know the implementation of dictogloss technique used by English Lecturer in teaching listening and the students’ response of implementation of dictogloss technique at the second semester of English Language Education (ELED), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). This study used descriptive qualitative research design. Descriptive qualitative research design was used to describe the implementation of digtogloss technique used by English lecturer in teaching listening at ELED, UMM. The instruments used in this study were observation checklist, interview, and questionnaire. The subject of this study is a lecturer who taught Intermediate Listening and the students of second semester of ELED, UMM. The results of this study showed that there were four stages in implementing dictogloss technique, (1) Preparing the story about American Families today and explained some vocabularies which unfamiliar for the students, (2) Dictating the story by the audio in three times, (3) Reconstructing the paragraph by using the keywords of the story, and (4) Analyze and correcting the paragraph which was creating by lecturer and students. Furthermore, the students had positive response toward the implementation of dictogloss technique in teaching listening.
