- Starfruit is one of the Indonesian fruit which has a great market potential both in Indonesia and the global market. The high nutrient content and its sweet and freshness make starfruit become people’s favorite. Despite this fact, there are some issues in the starfruit production such as its perishable nature, short life span, and its vulnerability towards microbes which causes certain postharvest disease. Thus, a research on the maturity index and wrapping method is essential for the starfruit production. It is to find out the effect on the shelf life and quality of the fruit. This study applied the Randomized Complete Design (RCD). The RCD consists of two factors, namely the maturity index and wrapping method. The maturity index of starfruit consists of K1: Maturity index 2, K2: Maturity index 3, and K3: Maturity index 4. The Wrapping method (P) consists of P0: Control, P1: newspaper, P2: Plastic wrap, P3: Foamnet. The research variables included the weight loss, fruit firmness, vitamin C content, Total Soluble Solids, disease severity, disease incidence, and the pathogen identification. The research data were then analyzed by using F-test, and if the treatment had significance different, then tested with Honestly Significance Diffirence (HSD) of 5% P. value. The research result showed that the maturity index and wrapping method had a significant effect on the weight loss value, fruit firmness, Total Soluble Solids, the attack intensity of the disease, and the disease severity. The maturity index 2 had a better result and had a 18-days of shelf life after the storage. The wrapping with plastic wrap had the best result on the weight loss result, vitamin C content, the attack intensity of the disease, and the disease severity.
