  • Cassava is one of the basic foodstuffs in Indonesia. Demand cassava annually has increased. Cassava production both dropped each year, the decline occurred because of the use of seeds that have a non-uniform quality. Another factor is the high demand for crop seeds for planting one hectare of cassava. This study aims to determine the effect of cowpea sprout extract concentration and temperature hot water treatment (HWT) are different on the growth of cassava seedlings. This research was conducted at CV. Joyo Rosan for HWT, Biotechnology Laboratory for the extraction of sprouts and Green House Laboratory of Experimental University of Malang. . the experiment used factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and 1 control comparator is repeated 3 times. First factor was concetration of cowpea sprout extract (K1=150 ml/l, K2=200 ml/l, and K3=250 ml/l), the second factor was HWT temperature (T1=400C, T2=500C, and T3=600C) during 60 minutes. The target of this research is to obtain the concentration of bean sprouts extract and the appropriate HWT temperature for optimal cassava seed growth. Analysis of variance performed on the results obtained and continued observation HSD test with a level of 5% if there is a significant difference between treatments. Differences in the influence of control and treatment combinations were analyzed using Orthogonal Contrast Test. The result showed the application of cowpea sprout extract and how water treatment temperature affect the growth of bud chips cassava seeds. The existence of the infulensce between extraction of cowpea sprouts and hot water treatment temperature against bud chips cassava seeds on all parameters. Treatment of cowpea sprout extract 150 ml/l and hot water treatment 400C showed the best result on the growth of cassava seedlings (Manihot esculenta Crantz).
